Northrop Frye was a 20th century Canadian literary critic who developed a theory of archetypal criticism. He believed that recurring myths and archetypes can be identified throughout various performs of literature. Frye determined four key archetypes - spring/dawn, summer season/zenith, autumn/sunset, and Winter season/darkness - that correspond to
